Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority (PTA) is going to started SIM Re-Verification Process in coming few
days. Mobile companies are given 90 days by PTA to re-verify the untested SIMs.
According to a report, there are 103 million SIMs for re-verification.
Pakistan Telecommunication
Authority (PTA) announced that the sim user will have to bear a re-verification
fee of Rs. 10 per CNIC.
PTA said, if a customer goes to
service centre, Franchise or a retailer shop of any company and re-verifies his
all SIMs of one CNIC then he will have to pay Rs. 10 for this process.
Mobile Telecom Companies said
that the reason about suggesting this verification fee is that this fee will be
given to retailer as an incentive. They say that there is no other ways to keep
retailers connect with re-verification process. They further said that the
retailers may refuse to do work with them due to disturbance in the process.
Telecom companies clearly told
ProPakistani that this processing fee of Rs. 10 per transaction will be kept by
retailers and operators won’t share a penny from this fee.
Telecom companies are planning that
when a customer will do re-verifies the his/her SIM then company will give
him/her incentive in the form of Free Minutes, Free SMS and this fee of Rs. 10
will be justified, somehow.
Surely, customer will dislike paying
the fee but all this is for everyone’s benefit and for security purposes of
country.
