Almost 7,000 Pakistanis are
living in the middle of the main road in one of the areas worst hit by flood
Pakistan’s government says this
month's flood losses cost the economy about $15bn. Flood waters reached Sindh
province on Friday, and the Indus River was able to handle most of the flood. But
upstream in Punjab 2.5 million people have been affected after two major rivers
flooded large parts of the north. Rescue personnel say that they are facing the
problems because people are not cooperating with them and some inhabitants are
not willing to leave their flood-hit homes. At least 5,000 to 6,000 people from
the poorest and most in danger populations are now living in the middle of the
main road.
Reported from Muzaffargarh - one of the worst hit areas.
