Pakistan, Peshawar: The primary school teachers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected the government’s decision to keep armaments during school timings.

This resolution was made by All Primary Schools Teachers Association of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during a convention on Wednesday. A large number of primary school teachers attended the convention.

The security of students, teachers and other staff members is the major responsibility of the government, said President of the Convention of Primary School Teachers, Malik Khalid.

Malik Khalid further said to the meeting that, “our responsibility is to teach the students but not to provide security to the students.”

He added that every primary teacher has rejected the government’s new policy in the name of security but teachers are ready to attend the schools during their holidays.

Malik Khalid said about their participation in anti-polio campaign that teachers’ community will not take part in the anti-polio movement. It is the duty of lady health workers and the health department, Khalid said.

After the attack on Army Public School on 16 December, 2104, the KPK government took various
steps to make better the security measures.

Proposals made by the government included issuing artillery licenses and allowing teachers to keep weapons during school hours.
